Welcome to Soroptimist International of Downriver!
We are a passionate group of women who believe in the power of friendship, service, and community. As part of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment, and opportunity, we work together to create meaningful change right here in the Downriver area. Whether we're awarding scholarships, mentoring young women, supporting survivors, partnering with local organizations, or simply lending a helping hand, our mission is to inspire hope and make a lasting difference—one woman, one girl, and one project at a time.
We invite you to be part of something bigger. Our Business Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Woodhaven Community Center, while our Dinner Meetings take place on the third Tuesday at rotating Downriver restaurants. These evenings may feature guest speakers, hands-on service projects, leadership discussions, or simply an opportunity to connect with inspiring women who share a heart for service.

Each year, Soroptimist International of Downriver invests in the dreams and potential of women and girls through a variety of scholarship and award programs. These opportunities recognize academic achievement, leadership, perseverance, community service, and the determination to create a brighter future. By helping to remove financial barriers and celebrating those who are working toward their goals, our scholarships empower recipients to continue their education, build their confidence, and make a positive impact in their families, careers, and communities. We are proud to support the next generation of women leaders, changemakers, and role models.
Soroptimist Downriver offers several scholarship opportunities designed to help women and girls pursue their educational goals, develop their leadership potential, and build brighter futures. Our annual programs include the Live Your Dream Award, the Virginia Wagner Educational Award, and the Soroptimist PRIME Award.
Application periods, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and award details are published beginning in September. We encourage interested applicants, educators, counselors, and community members to follow our Facebook page for the latest information as each application cycle opens. It's the best place to find announcements, application forms, important deadlines, and updates about these opportunities.

Our elected officers and Board of Directors work together to provide leadership, vision, and guidance for Soroptimist International of Downriver. Led by the President and supported by the Vice President, Secretary, Co-Treasurers, and Directors, this dedicated team helps ensure the club remains focused on its mission while supporting members, committees, programs, and service projects that improve the lives of women and girls in our community.
